About
I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario with a younger sister and my two parents. When we were kids, there was always a ton of family time and copious amounts of time spent at each of my grandparents homes.
I didn’t realize it until recently, but I’m incredibly grateful that I was able to spend so much time with them. I think they really shaped me into the person I am today, and thus inspired the name for my blog.
The name “angean” is actually an amalgamation of both of my grandmothers names - Angeline and Jeanne. I think it works well because most of my interests, which make up the content of the blog, were inspired and nurtured by them.
My Nonnie inspired my love of cooking, baking and all things culinary. Through her I learned that great food comes from hard work in your own kitchen, not from a box or from McDonald’s.
My Nanny inspired my love of all things creative. She was amazing at basically any hand craft, especially ones involving yarn or thread, as well as painting. Through her, I learned the beauty and satisfaction of making something with your own hands.
I moved to Toronto in 2009 to attend Ryerson University, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in design, majoring in Fashion Communication. Fed up at the time with fashion, I later went on to get my Baking certificate from George Brown College, and spent about a year baking in a commercial kitchen.
I’ve got my own fashion, beauty, DIY kind of style mixed in with my culinary and creative influences, and everything together has become my lifestyle to be shared with all you lovely people on the blog.
Hope you enjoy!
